This almost perfect neutrality means Garçonne will suit everyone with the ovaries (or balls) to pull off such a supermassive colour. I've held this stick up to a dozen different complexions in my mind and just can't seem to find one that would fight it very hard. If you're looking for a bold special-occasion red but have trouble with yellow or blue-leaning versions, you should be safe with this one. It's like a trekking elephant- big and helpful. I won't lie and tell you Garçonne is everybody's tea and biscuit, because for some reason there are still those out there who think a mighty red is not for them. Teh! There's just no helping some people. | Hi. My name is K, and I have a Guerlain Rouge G problem. I cannot afford it and indeed, it is heinously overpriced. The packaging offends the shit out of me with its old-lady fuck-the-environment extraneousness. I have to wait a week for it to show up from whichever hell it springs from. Every time I buy a shade I swear it will be the last. And yet here I am, reviewing another Rouge G item. Who am I? This time it's Garçonne, which is a brilliant true neutral red. Not coral, not burgundy, not wine, not scarlet: red. Like a pillar box in winter, or a decent glacé cherry. Christmas red. The pic directly left is a good indication of the shade in our very clean coastal daylight. |

After wearing Bite High Pigment pencils I've concluded that these two recipes have a lot in common as far as superior comfort, tenacity and saturation are concerned. Another thing Garçonne has a lot in common with is Urban Decay F-Bomb, which doesnt bleed for me. It's maybe 5% warmer and a mite dirtier, but on the lip the effect is the same- classic, candy-apple red. Same deal with Bite Pomegranate, which I've just discovered is total, indistinguishable twinsies with F-Bomb. Check out the outdoor daylight swatch directly below to see what I mean (the order is the same as for the large swatch above). If you have any of these three, you really don't need the others. I know, I know, that's like making us choose between Cool Hand Luke Paul Newman or Last of the Mohicans Daniel Day Lewis. For the love of god, why not both? |
