MAC Fanfare isn't the sort of thing I normally wear but I was bored with MAC Hot Tahiti as a MLBB situation, keen to preserve my overpriced stick of Nars Walkyrie, and this was the first inoffensive pink to exploit that moment of weakness, lol. So what do we have here? A medium-light petal or vintage lolly pink, neutral to very slightly coolish depending on the undertone your lip supplies. Nice Girl Pink. The cremesheen formula is perfectly acceptable as far as I'm concerned, smoothly emollient without feeling greasy or bleeding to any noticeable extent and providing around 80% opacity in one swipe. Fanfare is easily sheered out to just the lightest wash of colour or built up for a more dressed look, at which point it can settle into a few lip lines. It's so prim and muted that I don't think that really matters. | L 2 R All MAC unless stated: Head in the Clouds, Fanfare, Hot Tahiti, Girl About Town, Nars Dolce Vita v-matte natural indoor light This stick will be a candidate for HG pink on many pale girls but is possibly too doll-y for the tanned or anyone with any melanin to speak of. Wear time is around 3 hours of doing nothing much, or 30 mins of eating and drinking hot food; luckily these lighter cremesheens melt away without taking your dignity with them so they're safe for working lunches. Ditto for workouts. So Fanfare is solid and serviceable, just not orgasmic in any particular direction especially on a highly pigmented mouth. As I've said 1000 times my lips are dark little suckers (Hot Tahiti is a close if warmer match) and this shade is really a bit too pale to achieve anything approaching spectacularity. I'm just not a natural-look girl. That shit gives me comfort-zone palpitations. |

That's what I see with this colour on my otherwise bare mug, and I'm too fucking vain to forego pretty lippage. So yeah- all things considered, IMO, Fanfare serves a spiky eye and not too much else. | I don't bat a lid at MAC Sin or Sweetpea & Fay Ominous but I really wasn't sure what would happen if I wore a lipstick no one noticed: toad plague? Blood moon? While things like Fanfare can create more room on your face for a big eye statement, they can also reduce the visual influence of one of your best features... wuh wuh waaaah. |
